CMAA CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA MEMBERSHIP & STUDENT OUTREACH COMMITTEE

STRATEGIC PLAN 2020

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The specific responsibilities of the Membership and Student Outreach Committee include: 

  •  Increase awareness of CMAA chapter through promotion on the website and social media, the creation of flyers and other collateral material, and through in person   conversations and word of mouth.

  • Collaborate with the Programs Committee to establish professional events that are of interest to engineering consultants, contractors, and owners.

  • Promote and facilitate the professional development of local collegiate-level students concentrating in construction management and/or engineering design.

  • Conduct networking opportunities between students and members of the construction engineering industry.

  • Engage with colleges and universities in the CMAA Central PA territory to spark and enact Student Chapters on campus.

  • Collaborate with the Scholarship Committee to encourage Student Chapter applications.

 

ANNUAL GOALS

The Membership and Student Outreach Committee establishes annual goals, specifying several areas on which it will focus its activities for the coming year.

 

For 2020, the Committee goals include:

  • Increase general membership base by 15% by the end of the calendar year.

  •  Meet with at least three local colleges and universities that offer civil engineering and/or construction management majors to spark outreach with faculty and students and gain their interest in CMAA Central PA.

  • Work with at least one college or university to establish the foundation for a Student Chapter, including helping with the application process, recruitment, events, etc.

    • Committee will regularly visit the Student Chapter Officers to ensure successful collaboration between students, faculty, and CMAA Central PA.

    • Committee will develop guidelines and an incentive program to increase and enhance an active student membership base.

  • Collaborate with the Professional Development Committee for students, where students can attend at a discounted rate, to learn best practices and receive technical knowledge.

  • Collaborate with the Programs Committee for mix-and-mingle events and on-site field visits, where students can attend at no cost, to interact with tenured members of the construction engineering industry.

  •  Collaborate with the Scholarships Committee to promote and encourage student applications.

The committee charter should include a list of the members assigned to this committee as well as the staff who support the committee.

MEETINGS

The Membership and Student Outreach Committee meets quarterly (four times in a calendar year) or when necessary at the call of the committee chairs. Meeting dates and times will be identified in advance.
