WELCOME TO CMAA CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA
From the Chapter President
Hello CMAA Central PA Chapter Members!
Here we are in the middle of October already. We have been a chapter for almost nine months now. I hope that you are partaking in CMAA2020. I have listened in on several very good sessions so far and there are more to come.
I thought I would take a few minutes of your time to let you know what has been going on and where we want to go. We, the Board, had really good intentions for this our inaugural year. Then COVID-19 hit. There went our plans. We tried to schedule Jennie Granger, MultiModal Deputate, PennDOT. We tried to conduct our fundraising event “T-bones and Targets” but had to postpone it a second time. We did co-host a virtual event with KCA last month. And we are still trying to conduct a virtual event with Diane Tokarsky, McNees Law, yet this year. We have been kicking around a panel discussion about COVID-19 and Claims - how to solve issues before they go to a claim. The session is to benefit all parties – owners, contractors, and construction managers. Look for that save the date in your email here in the near future.
We plan to award several project awards in January at our Charter Night. Yes I am thinking positive that we will be able to host a real event with 50-60 people in attendance. We had multiple submissions and the packets are under review now.
Our Awards Cmte also had available 6 CMIT exam fee reimbursements for the first six people who came to us with proof of passing the CMIT exam this year. We have reimbursed one person so far this year.
Speaking of CMIT, have you heard about the stackable credentials program? Check it out on the CMAA National website. I am very proud to say our chapter had the very first CMIT Level III in the entire organization!
Our website is up and running. Check it out. www.cmaacentralpa.com . If you have any suggestions, email me.
We have a chapter logo! Does anybody know someone who can take the logo and make chapter pins that we could sell? What are your thoughts on polos or t-shirts or golf balls?
We are planning for a full slate of events for 2021 but you all have seen the numbers recently. They are going up again. What will that do to physical attendance at meetings? Not sure. I wish I had that crystal ball.
We will have our first elections next year. Our Business Plan calls for all of the officers to move up a position if they want to. There will be some positions available either on the Board or on a committee. Let me know if you want to be considered.
This is your chapter. We want to hear from you! What do you want to see YOUR chapter accomplish in 2021? Here are a few of my thoughts to get your creative minds thinking and to get you to reply to this email: I know I would love to see more owner members. I want to have a fundraising event that raises enough funds to award multiple scholarships next year. I want to see everyone at the meetings in person, not virtual. I want to see us establish a student chapter.
Stay healthy and safe everyone! Don’t forget your mask…don’t leave home without it…
Thank you for your time.
